Museum of Ice Cream

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! How good does a Museum of Ice Cream sound? Get your gelato glad rags on to experience this pastel-pretty LA pop-up, which would wow even the likes of Willy Wonka.

Not a traditional museum, but a whimsical inside scoop on the art and iconography surrounding our fave summer refreshment, Maryellis Bunn’s mega-hit concept debuted in 2016 in New York, selling out in five days and attracting a 200,000-strong waiting list. Perfect for the sunny West Coast, the follow-up LA version is four times bigger, running until 21 August in DTLA’s Arts District.

Ten candy-coloured, immersive installations offer tastes of science, art, swings, ping-pong, and best of all samplers, a deliciously designed playground themed around the iconic snack. Highlights include a banana split featuring 10,000 bananas; a melted popsicle jungle; a mint grow house; a Californian room; and a swimmable Sprinkle Pool, filled with 100 million vibrant, custom-made plastic sprinkles. Entry includes two local artisanal ice creams.

This sweet spot is trending hard, with online tickets selling faster than Cornettos on a hot day in hell. Get in quick or work your contacts (tickets aren’t available on the door).
